How to get great conversations from AI characters
Practical tips for chatting with AI characters on ChatGibidy: pick a persona, set the scene, and keep the story moving.
Character chat is one of the friendliest ways to enjoy AI. Instead of asking a blank assistant for facts, you step into a scene with a personality: a ship captain, a patient tutor, a dry witted detective, a fantasy shopkeeper. ChatGibidy hosts thousands of these characters, called Gibidies, and every one has its own page you can open and start chatting with right away.
Start with the right character
Open the Gibidies directory and use the search box. Try a role ("teacher", "pirate", "coach") or a mood ("calm", "mischievous"). Each character page shows a short title and a description of who they are. Read it first, because it tells you the voice and the world your conversation will live in. When a character looks interesting, press the Chat button and the conversation opens with that persona ready.
Set the scene in your first message
A good opening line gives the character something to work with. Compare these two:
"Hi." and "I just walked into your workshop on a rainy evening carrying a broken music box. Can you tell me what you see?"
The second gives place, time, an object and a question. The character can answer in kind, and the story takes off. A sentence or two of setting is usually all it takes.
Give the story small choices
Characters respond well to options. End a message with a decision such as "Do we take the lantern or the map?" and the reply tends to move the plot forward. Short, specific messages keep the rhythm lively, and you can always add detail on the next turn.
Use characters for practice
Role play is also a handy training ground. Rehearse a job interview with a friendly hiring manager, practise ordering dinner in another language with a cafe owner, or talk through a tough conversation with a calm mediator. Ask the character to give you feedback at the end, then try the scene again with what you learned.
Keep a favourite going
Signed in accounts keep conversation history, so you can return to a story tomorrow and continue from where it paused. If you want to share a favourite exchange, ChatGibidy can create a shareable link to a conversation so friends can read it.
Mix characters with other tools
Ask a character to describe a scene, then turn that description into artwork with an image generator such as SimplexGen. Or sketch a small web page for your fictional world with SiteSim. Characters are great idea partners, and your imagination decides where the story goes next.
